Have Your Say on the City Budget. You! (Not you.)

The Budget Committee held a meeting during the lunch break of Thursday’s Council session. It lasted from 12:45–12:50 p.m.  Only their second get-together (and the first at which business was conducted), there were only two items on the agenda: 1) “Establishment of Sub-committees of the Budget Committee,” and 2) “Election of Vice Chair.”
Number 2 resulted in Doug Ford being named the committee’s second-in-command — no surprise.  But buried in item 1 [pdf] are the details for the public’s only …

TTC budget cuts met with vocal opposition

City Idol Coming Down to the Wire

Come next Tuesday, Toronto will have its first four City Idol winners. Last weekend part-time Grad student and Ministry of the Environment employee Bahar Aminvaziri won the title of City Idol for North York. She’s declared that she’s running in crowded Ward 26, vacated by Mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield.
This Saturday, Scarberians will be picking their own City Idol. The event starts at 6:30pm at the Scarborough Civic Centre.
Monday sees the final for Downtown-East York. I’m one of the six finalists and ridiculously amazed …
